Flu Jab
Flu vaccination is available every year on the NHS to help protect people at risk of flu and its complications.
If you are healthy flu, although unpleasant will usually clear up within a week. However, flu can be more severe in:
- people aged 65 and over
- pregnant women
- children and adults with an underlying health condition or weakened immune systems.
The NHS recommend anyone in these groups have the flu vaccine every year to protect them.
The flu vaccine is offered free on the NHS to:
- adults over the age of 18 at risk of flu (including everyone aged 65 and over)
- pregnant women
- children aged six months to two years at risk of flu.
65 and over
If you will be aged 65 and over on March 31 2018 – so you were born on or before March 31 1953, you are eligible for the flu vaccine.
Where can I receive the flu jab?
You can receive the NHS flu jab at your GP surgery, a local pharmacy offering the service or your midwifery service if they offer it.
