Breathing New Life into Homes in Immingham through our SHDF project
Imagine stepping into a home that looks not just visually pleasing, but also noticeably warmer and more comfortable. This is the reality for customers in Immingham who participated in a recent project focused on transforming the look and energy efficiency of their properties.
“Don’t think I’ve ever been involved in a project that has had so much positive on such a scale as this,” says Karl Meyer, Project Surveyor, reflecting on the first wave of improvements made to the external wall insultation of homes in North East Lincolnshire, following LHP’s successful £8-million funding boost from the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund.
Customers echoed this sentiment, highlighting the multifaceted benefits they’ve experienced.
A Multi-Pronged Approach to Home Improvement
The project aimed to achieve a complete improvement for customers. This included:
- Enhanced Aesthetics: As Yvonne Dickinson, a customer from Langley Walk in Immingham, puts it, the project brought an “amazing improvement to the appearance” of her home. This involved exterior upgrades and other visual enhancements.
- Improved Thermal Efficiency: The project incorporated measures to make the homes retain heat better, including insulation upgrades, and air sealing measures.
- Increased Comfort: This means customers like Yvonne have noticed a significant difference in how well their homes retain heat, translating to warmer and more comfortable living spaces. “The insultation was completed in early-November, and I noticed after a few weeks that I was putting my heating on less and less – the home stays warm for much longer and retains its heat.”
- Enhanced Customer Satisfaction: Ultimately, the project aimed to create a sense of safety, pride, and overall satisfaction with the wider neighbourhood. As Karl emphasises, the project resulted in customers feeling “safe and proud to live in their homes”.
The Power of Energy Efficiency
Yvonne’s feedback paints a clear picture of the project’s success so far, with the second wave of improvements having just gotten underway in Grimsby. A key aspect is the focus on improving the home’s thermal envelope. This not only enhances comfort but also leads to reduced energy consumption. Yvonne highlights this benefit by mentioning that she is “using less energy for heating, which results in less money being spent on bills. It’s always nice to know you are doing something positive for the environment too.”
