Major Milestone in £16 Million Investment Programme

A Grimsby resident is celebrating in style after his home became the 500th to be revamped as part of a £16 million improvement programme.

David Turrell has lived in the semi-detached property on Cromer Avenue, which he shares with his wife and son, for more than eight years.

Over the course of a couple of weeks, Mr Turrell has seen his home transformed with a brand-new kitchen, PVC windows and bathroom upgrade, as well as a new boiler and heating system.

The facelift was carried out by energy and regeneration specialist ENGIE as part of a programme to refurbish more than 1000 homes on behalf of Lincolnshire Housing Partnership, over the duration of a four-year contract.

Mr Turrell, 49, said: “I’m a Grimsby lad born and bred. After coming out of the forces, I moved to this house with my wife and son and we’ve lived here ever since.

“The work we’ve had done has been great, and the process was straightforward and quick. My favourite room is definitely the kitchen. Before the refurbishment, we had a mismatch of cupboards, no kitchen wall units, and we didn’t have flooring. We worked with ENGIE to choose the design, going for grey which we think looks ace, and they also gave us the opportunity to have our sink moved to under the window. Our kitchen now feels light and spacious. I couldn’t wait to fill our kitchen wall units.”

Rob Seaman, Contracts Manager for ENGIE’s Places & Communities division, said: “The team are so proud when we see residents enjoying their newly-refurbished homes, so it’s great that we’ve reached such a significant milestone on this project.

“We really hope the work carried out to Mr Turrell’s home will make a huge difference to him and his family, and we look forward to improving many more homes across Grimsby as part of this programme.”

LHP commercial manager James Robinson said: “Not only does this investment further improve the quality of the homes we provide, it makes such a significant difference to our tenants.

“It’s fantastic to reach this milestone and we look forward to refurbishing many more homes across the area.”
